With the support of the Society of American Archivists’ International Archival Affairs Roundtable (IAART) and Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Heritage Archives Roundtable (LACCHA) , Itinerant Archivists is a grassroots, self-funded effort by U.S.-based archivists to engage and build international awareness and service orientation through travel, service projects, and bilateral exchange of expertise.

The Latin American and Caribbean Cultural Heritage Archives roundtable (LACCHA) of the Society of American Archivists (SAA), in partnership with the Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC) and the Association of Caribbean University, Research and Institutional Libraries (ACURIL), has organized a series of online events, Desmantelando Fronteras/Breaking Down Borders, a webinar series showcasing archival projects of Latin America and the Caribbean. This series provides a collaborative space for Latin American and Caribbean archivists to share their projects, experiences, and takeaways and fostering a two-way communication between professionals throughout the Americas. In 2016, Desmantelando Fronteras/Breaking Down Borders co-founders were awarded the Society of American Archivists’ Diversity Award.

La mesa redonda de los Archivos de Patrimonio Cultural de Latinoamérica y el Caribe (LACCHA) de la Sociedad de Archivistas Americanos (SAA), en asociación con la Biblioteca Digital del Caribe (dLOC) y la Asociación de Bibliotecas Universitarias, de Investigación e Institucionales del Caribe (ACURIL), ha organizado Desmantelando Fronteras/Breaking Down Borders, una serie de seminarios por Internet recalcando proyectos archivísticos de Latinoamérica y el Caribe. Esta serie provee un espacio colaborativo para archivistas de Latinoamérica y el Caribe donde se pueden compartir proyectos, experiencias y mensajes principales y a la vez fomentar comunicación bidireccional entre profesionales a lo largo de las Américas. En 2016, la Sociedad de Archivistas Norteamericanos premiaron los co-fundadores del proyecto Desmantelando Fronteras/Breaking Down Borders con el premio “Diversity Award.”

I am dabbling in working with social media data collection and visualization. Currently I have started using the twarc Python program and utilities developed by Ed Summers to collect tweets on Twitter and use the data to visualize and display that data.
